Paradox:

Paradox is one of the most well known micro cruisers, primarily due to the many long distance voyages made by its designer Matt Layden which include the Bahamas and winning the 300 mile Everglades challenge. Plans are available for the Paradox. Many have been completed from plans and some of these have also made remarkable journeys including trips through the Hawaiian Islands and up the west coast of Australia.

The design is unusual in many respects. The hull is a sharpie with internal ballast under he floor. Protrusions on the chine logs called "chine runners" help prevent leeward motion and allow the yacht to sail effectively to windward despite the lack of a keel or centre board. The sail rig is also unusual with a furling main sail. All controls are routed to the cockpit and the boat can be sailed from the comfort of the cabin in foul weather.
